Abstract
Background. Adolescence is a transition stage from childhood to adulthood, which is associated with physical and mental growth. This stage includes biological, cognitive, emotional and social changes. Due to the importance of the sensitive period of adolescence, the spiritual, social and psychological health of adolescents and families, especially mothers, is important.
Methods. According to the purpose, the design of the current research was an applied research, experimental in nature, and quasi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research includes mothers with teenage children in the city of Tabriz and it was conducted in the year 2024. In this research, the available sampling method was used in the first step and the simple random sampling method was used in the group placement stage to select the subjects. The library method was used to collect the theoretical foundations of the research and the field method was used to collect the research data from the spiritual, social and mental health questionnaires. Descriptive statistics method (mean and standard deviation) was used to analyze the research data. Also, to analyze the research data, the inferential statistics method of covariance analysis test was used.
Results. In the multivariate covariance analysis, two experimental and control groups were compared on dependent variables. Hotelling's T^2 value is 54.116 and Wilkes's lambda value is 0.018 with P=0.000. Therefore, it can be concluded that the two groups have a significant difference both in total and vectorially (the effect size value is equal to 0.982 with a power equal to one). In other words, the intervention has caused a significant difference in the dependent variables of the research.
Conclusion. The results of the present study indicate that parenting education based on acceptance and commitment has an effect on the spiritual health, social health and mental health of mothers with teenage children.
Practical Implications. Based on this study, parenting education training based on acceptance and commitment is recommended for mothers with teenage children to promote spiritual health, social health and mental health.
