The effectiveness of spiritual care on the flourishing and academic vitality of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences students

Abstract

Background. Spirituality and its effect on mental health and improvement of people's lives have been paid more attention by psychologists and mental health specialists in the last few decades.The present research was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of spiritual care on the prosperity and academic vitality of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences students.

Methods. The research method used was a semi-experimental type of pre-test and post-test with a control group. For this purpose, among the students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Tabriz city, 30 people were selected as available sampling and randomly replaced in two experimental groups and control group. Both groups responded to the academic prosperity and vitality questionnaire before and after the intervention. The experimental group participated in the spiritual care course in 4 sessions of 90 minutes, one session per week, but the control group did not receive any intervention.

Results. The results of data analysis showed that spiritual care has been effective on students' academic vitality and prosperity (P<0.05).

Conclusion. According to the results, it can be concluded that with spiritual care education, students' prosperity and academic vitality can be improved. intervention based on spiritual care can be one of the effective options in improving the prosperity and academic vitality of medical students. The findings of this study confirm the acceptability of the theoretical topics presented in this field.
