Abstract

Background. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of cognitive and behavioral stress management and healthy lifestyle promotion training on the psychological well-being of Faraja families.

Methods. The present study was a quasi-experimental study with two experimental groups with a pre-test-post-test method and a control group. The statistical population of the study was all spouses of Faraja employees in East Azerbaijan Province. The sample size was 45 people in two experimental groups and a control group based on the research method. This number was selected through convenience sampling from among the spouses of Faraja employees who refer to the Aramesh Counseling Center and were randomly assigned to the groups. The Rif Psychological Well-Being Scale (RSPWB) was used to collect data. The collected data were analyzed according to the research hypotheses using multivariate analysis of covariance with Spss25 software.

Results. The results of multivariate analysis of covariance showed that cognitive-behavioral stress management and healthy lifestyle promotion training were effective in improving psychological well-being. (P<0.05). The results of multivariate analysis of covariance and post hoc test showed that there was a difference in the components of psychological well-being between the two groups and that the cognitive-behavioral stress management group showed a significant increase compared to healthy lifestyle promotion training (P<0.05).

Conclusion. Therefore, it can be concluded that cognitive-behavioral stress management methods and healthy lifestyle promotion training can be used to increase psychological well-being in Faraj families.
